Lyrics:
Well I started to write a song about colorado
But I wrote it in my head, neglected to write it down
Now I can't remember a word, not a line nor a rhyme
Yes regretfully i've almost forgotten what it's about
I think it had something to do with the wind oh yes the wind
it was a gusting and the tall grass, a golden tide
No no it must have been about that effervescent evergreen
Miles high on the ride over to steamboat springs
Oh yes, It's all coming back to me now
Well la da da rocky mountains
bing bang boom climbing high
And Lee da do from the tree tops
Oh Glide on down my sweet magpie
a fourteener never looked meaner as I tried to read the signs
sharper curves and steeper grade to red rock sunshine
And I can hear that music play in The garden of the gods
Saturn, venus, jupiter soon arrive with mars
Now a moon lit Poudre canyon winding all the time
Comes to reach to a snowy bank where kooky Aunt Ann resides
And from there you can see the Colorado majesty
High Plains and front range, Pike’s peak divine
Oh yes, it sure is something to behold
Well la da da rocky mountains
And bing bang boom climbing high
And Lee da do from the tree tops
Oh Glide on down my sweet magpie
Well la da da rocky mountains
And bing bang boom climbing high
And Lee da do from the tree tops
Oh Glide on down my sweet magpie
